Clinical Lab Scientist II – West Hills, CA – Tuesday – Saturday 12:00 PM – 8:30 PM Job Description This licensed position is accountable for performing complex clinical laboratory testing, following all applicable policies and procedures.

Pay Range : $52.55 – $58.45 per hour. Employees may be eligible for shift differential of 10% for second shift hours and 15% for third shift hours. Salary offers are based on relevant skills, training, experience, education, and certifications. Successful candidates may receive an annual performance bonus.

Responsibilities

Consistently and independently performs the most complex level of clinical tests following required procedures and policies.

Oversees preparation of reagents, media, stock solutions, standards, and controls and evaluates new reagents or controls.

Determines acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.

Calculates results using manual or computerized procedures.

Accurately enters results and verifies data accuracy, maintaining turnaround times.

Evaluates acceptability of routine and complex analysis before releasing reports and responds to critical values or unusual results.

Responsible for scheduled preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of laboratory equipment.

Performs instrument performance checks, linearity, accuracy, and precision checks as required.

Performs quality control and calibrations, evaluating results for acceptability.

Selects and evaluates control materials and initiates corrective action when systems fail.

Accurately performs and records proficiency testing.

Detects and corrects technical and operational problems, notifying supervisors and contacting service support as needed.

Tracks and labels reagents and supplies accurately and maintains a safe and neat work area.

Trains staff in routine and complex procedures and supports training programs.

Assists supervisors in maintaining the computer database for the testing area and department.

Schedules effective weekly workloads with Group Lead and supervisory staff.

Provides technical direction to staff and feedback to supervisors on learning progress.

Participates in staff and quality improvement meetings as assigned.

Performs additional business‑related responsibilities and projects delegated by supervisor or manager.

Collects and disposes of waste in proper receptacles.

Demonstrates high integrity and confidentiality.

Provides direction to unlicensed staff as required.

Maintains professional growth through continuing education required for California state licensure.

Answers phones, transfers, or takes accurate messages.

Complies with all health and safety policies, procedures, and practices, including personal protective equipment.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Work Experience : Minimum 6 months of direct experience.

Preferred Work Experience : None.

Physical and Mental Requirements

Lifting and carrying objects 1–10 lbs frequently; 11–25 lbs occasionally; 26–50 lbs seldom; objects >50 lbs require assistance.

Ability to perform repetitive tasks, fine manipulation, sit/stand for long periods.

Good eye and hand coordination.

Testing for color blindness upon hiring for relevant tasks.

Skills

Communication and interpersonal skills for courteous collaboration.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Strong typing skills desirable.

Other automation skills helpful.
