Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Department : 60901 Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center - Lab Status : Full time Benefits Eligible : Yes Hours Per Week : 40 Schedule Details/Additional Information : This is a 2nd shift position (2:30pm-11pm) in the Chemistry Lab, Monday-Friday with rotating holidays and weekends. Pay Range : $23.65 - $45.25 Position Highlights : Department: Chemistry Lab Location: Winston Salem Medical Center Laboratory Shift Schedule: 2:30pm-11pm, Monday-Friday with rotating holidays and weekends. Previous experience as Medical Technologist preferred. LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, And/or REGISTRATION : Medical Technologist (MT) ASCP certification. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : Performs and provides accurate laboratory test results on human patients. Prepares and issues blood components for patient transfusions. Assists in the collection and transport of patient samples from the clinics to laboratory sections. Handles hazardous materials in accordance with regulations to ensure safe working environment. Requisitions and maintains inventory of supplies, materials, and equipment as needed for laboratory operations. Supervises, trains, and reviews the work of students and lower level technicians engaged in clinical laboratory work. Operates complex specialized laboratory instruments; instructs other personnel in the use and operations of these instruments. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein. SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS : Ability to communicate on a professional level with physicians, nurses and other ancillary professional staff when discussing procedures WORK ENVIRONMENT : Frequent exposure to infections, contagious diseases, and the risk of bloodborne diseases Exposure to hazardous anesthetic agents, body fluids, wastes, odorous chemicals and specimens Subject to electrical, radiant energy and radiation hazards Exposure to a variety of electro-mechanical/power equipment Exposure to housekeeping/cleaning agents/chemicals Subject to injury from moving parts of equipment Subject to long irregular hours.
