RN - PCU Facility Information
874 Licensed beds Level I Trauma Teaching Hospital Chest Pain Center Stroke Center Magnet Designated Radius rule: Traveler’s permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit Unit Information: Beds: 19 Minimum Years of Experience required? PCU – Details
PCU RN: 2 years PCU exp (to include heavy Neuro)
(Resource Team) Will you accept a first-time traveler? Not preferred but will consider (Resource Team) Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Post operative neurosurgery requiring freq. monitoring (from PACU): Craniotomy for brain tumor, VP shunt, Deep Brain Stimulators, transsphenoidal, Chiari malformations, cranioplasty etc. Subdural hematomas, CSF leaks, PLEX tx, seizure, post operative spine and ENT surgery, Stroke Higher acuity patients such as EVD/ICP monitoring and patients requiring conscious sedation for bedside procedures will not be given to travelers Patient Ratios: RN: 1:3 Required Licenses and Certifications
BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Skills
PCU RN: lumbar drains, Stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management, etc.) Medication gtt management to include: Cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, IVF, Nicardipine drips Support within the Department
CNA – ratios vary Receptionist/HUC Charge nurse, 24/7 – may or may not have patients Phlebotomy – peripheral blood draws only IV/VAT Team Resource Nurse – as available RT, 24/7 Hospitalist, 24/7 Intensivist, 24/7 Telemetry monitoring/tech? No monitoring tech; nurses read monitors and respond EMR: EPIC IV Pump: Alaris Med dispensing: Omnicell Monitors: Phillips Floating: If yes, where? Within region and scope of practice Will be required to float per region needs – will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice – DECLINE if not agreeable Please see job posting for dedicated region and discuss the region that applies (will change per requisition) Region 3

- Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH) If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock) Orientation

Weekend rotation: every other No call for travelers Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays – must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours Other notes
