RN - Labor & Delivery/Postpartum Responsibilities
Provide care for high-risk postpartum patients (mom and infant care by newborn nursery nurse as needed). Manage postpartum conditions: postpartum hemorrhage, preeclampsia/eclampsia with magnesium drips, infections, diabetes management, NICU mom care, and fetal demise deliveries
RN-to-patient ratio: 1:4 for postpartum moms; newborn care not required for all cases. Qualifications
Minimum 2 years LDRP RN experience (Resource Team). Will you accept a first-time traveler? Not preferred but will consider (Resource Team). Required licenses/certifications: BLS, ACLS, EFM, NRP (Resource Team requirement). Skills: Postpartum assessments, magnesium drips, glucose control (SQ insulin only), blood transfusions, preeclampsia management with IV meds, lactation support, PCA administration. Support & Equipment
Support within the department: CNA (1:7), charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, RT 24/7, hospitalists 24/7, intensivist 24/7, OB providers, anesthesia/CRNA, educators, EMR (EPIC), IV pumps (Alaris), medication dispensing (Omnicell), monitors (Phillips). Floating: may be required to float regionally as needed within scope; must decline if not agreeable. Facility & Unit Details
Location: 1000 Blythe Blvd., Charlotte, NC Beds: 874 licensed; Level I Trauma; Teaching Hospital; Magnet designated; Chest Pain Center; Stroke Center Unit Information: Beds 18 Patient Types/Diagnoses: High-risk postpartum; postpartum conditions listed above. Patient Ratios: RN 1:4 for postpartum; newborn care not included for all cases. Scheduling & Preferences
Weekend rotation: every other weekend No call for travelers Holiday expectations: travelers will work 75% of holidays RTO: Resource Team approval Other
