Job Summary
The Diagnostic Sonographer at Waco Family Medicine is responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations in accordance with established protocols and physician orders. This role requires strong clinical knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology to produce high-quality images for interpretation. The Sonographer ensures patient safety, comfort, and care throughout the procedure, working collaboratively with the healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
Perform a variety of ultrasound procedures, including abdominal, obstetric, gynecologic, and vascular imaging preferred.
Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring high-quality image acquisition.
Review and analyze images to provide accurate data for physician interpretation.
Tailor imaging techniques based on patient history and clinical information.
Clearly explain procedures and provide compassionate care to patients of all ages.
Accurately document procedures and patient data in electronic medical records.
Comply with safety protocols, infection control standards, and HIPAA regulations.
Support ongoing quality assurance and improvement efforts.
Participate in continuing education to maintain professional competencies and certifications.
Qualifications
Education and Certification:
Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) through ARDMS or equivalent credential required.
Additional certifications (e.g., RVT, RDCS) preferred.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Experience: One year of clinical ultrasound experience preferred; new graduates with strong clinical training will be considered.
Skills And Abilities:
Proficient in sonographic scanning techniques and image evaluation.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and patient care skills.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality care.
Working Conditions
May involve exposure to bodily fluids and infectious materials.
Requires standing for extended periods and assisting with patient positioning.
Flexibility to work variable shifts, including potential evening or weekend hours, if needed.
