Nursing Administrative Supervisor

Health First . 1 week ago Be among the first 25 applicants Responsibilities Serves as a resource to all associates and provides general supervisory and administrative assistance for hospital-wide management and decision-making in the absence of administrative personnel.
Assumes a leadership role in emergent and/or disaster situations to enhance communication and interaction among units and to ensure appropriate, safe, and timely problem-solving interventions on all shifts to provide continuity of service and optimum patient-centered care.
Provides direction to other individuals, including problem-solving assistance, while overseeing daily operations across the organization.
Maintains professionalism and positive customer relations in all circumstances, demonstrating integrity, focus, commitment, flexibility, diplomacy, and team spirit as a representative of administration.
Demonstrates knowledge and working expertise to ensure compliance with policies, standards and regulations including medical staff by-laws, risk management, and administrative policies (e.g., substance abuse, employee/visitor/patient injuries, disaster situations, infection control). Communicates closely with the command center.
Effectively utilizes hospital computer systems (Teletracking, SCM, Hospital IQ, TelMedIQ) to identify opportunities for improving throughput and promoting patient-centered care.
Oversees ADT procedures to ensure accurate, safe, and timely patient placement utilizing the hospital’s bed tracking system.
Works with bed control to establish plans for placement on all admissions and transfers; serves as clinical liaison in support of the Transfer Center.
Collaborates with Centralized Resource Team and staffing office to coordinate staffing resources with patient care needs to ensure cost-effective hospital operations.
Identifies system issues within the organization based on data and collaborates with department leaders to develop and implement policies and procedures to improve operational efficiencies.
Assesses overall hospital status, including calculation and execution of capacity trigger plans, prioritizes and escalates complex situations to directors, VPs, risk management, administration, and AOC as appropriate, and attends daily safety and capacity huddles.
Leads the development, implementation, and continual improvement of patient flow by escalating barriers and participating on committees and in quality improvement activities to achieve organization benchmarks for throughput.
Creates bed capacity for incoming patients by coordinating interdisciplinary meetings and rounds to identify patients appropriate for discharge and escalate barriers to decrease length of stay and optimize financial stewardship.
Organizes for patients or visitors to receive special services during off hours including facility support, clergy support, community resources, and interpreter services.
Provides service recovery and appropriate support to patients, families, and staff during off hours.
Responds to Code Blue, Rapid Responses, and other emergency alerts to provide direction, support, and assistance as necessary.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. BSN required OR conditional/time-limited waiver for BSN may apply to internal associates who complete their BSN within 3 years of transition to the new role, or external candidates enrolled in a BSN program to complete within 3 years of hire.
Work Experience: Minimum three (3) years nursing in acute hospital setting required. Leadership experience preferred (e.g., clinical charge nurse, ANM, NM).
Licensure: Current RN license to practice in the state of Florida.
Certification: Must hold current American Heart Association ACLS and BLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintain.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
Effective leadership ability and management skills
Exceptional customer service skills
Proven ability to establish priorities, preferably as relates to patient bed assignment or other scarce resources
In-depth knowledge of the acute hospital environment and ability to establish effective working relationships
Excellent interpersonal skills to interact, motivate, and communicate with a wide range of staff and hospital personnel in a professional manner
Effective verbal communication and listening skills
Proficient in use of information technology tools and solutions
Initiative and self-direction, flexibility, and ability to adapt to change
Strong negotiation and conflict management skills
Physical Requirements Physically agile; may require walking, standing, running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing or crouching frequently
Medium work with potential lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds occasionally, with or without assistance
May require moving in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, reaching overhead
May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment up to 90% of the shift
Exposure to varied temperatures, lighting levels, and noise
May involve biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC Guidelines
Requires travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter for Health First, including centralized patient logistics and all four Health First hospitals; use of personal vehicle
This position requires taking call within the scope of the role to support throughput
