Location: Decherd, TN Company: ResourceTek (in partnership with a global automotive manufacturer) Overview:
We are seeking a Facilities Engineer II with strong mechanical and electrical (MEP) experience to support facilities engineering and capital improvement projects at a global automotive OEM manufacturing plant in Decherd, TN. This role involves hands-on project support for facility infrastructure modifications, expansions, and maintenance, working closely with in-house engineering, maintenance, and contractor teams. Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage facility construction and infrastructure improvement projects, focusing on mechanical and electrical systems (e.g., HVAC, power distribution, compressed air, process utilities, lighting). Oversee field execution of MEP installations from planning through commissioning, ensuring safety, quality, and compliance with project specifications and schedules. Review and interpret MEP construction documents, submittals, equipment shop drawings, and project specifications. Serve as a key contact between contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders for construction activities in manufacturing environments. Coordinate civil and structural components of facility work, such as concrete pads, equipment foundations, trenching, steel structures, and utilities. Conduct site walks and inspections to ensure safety, code compliance (NEC, NFPA, IBC), and adherence to project requirements. Assist with scope of work preparations, bid packages, contractor selection, and cost tracking. Plan and coordinate construction during plant shutdowns, weekends, or off-hours to minimize disruptions. Support commissioning and handover of facility systems to plant operations and maintenance teams. Monitor construction progress, manage punch lists, and resolve field issues promptly. Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field. Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in facilities or industrial engineering, preferably in automotive or heavy manufacturing sectors. Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, utilities, and industrial equipment. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project, PowerPoint). Strong project management and problem-solving skills, capable of managing multiple tasks. Experience with plant shutdown work is a plus. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments. Some travel and weekend work may be required. Preferred Experience:
Experience with HVAC, electrical distribution, and compressed air systems in manufacturing. Understanding of industrial safety procedures, including lock-out/tag-out. Experience with construction administration and contractor coordination in live plant environments. Benefits:
