Storm4
Overview
An early-stage space systems company building avionics for commercial deep-space missions. The team is designing the avionics suite for a prototype mission with an upcoming launch date. This is a highly technical team where engineers own hardware end-to-end - from schematic to flight - and directly enable novel space resource and exploration missions. Responsibilities
You will own core avionics subsystems (analog, digital, and power electronics) for small spacecraft. This hands-on role requires end-to-end hardware development: component selection for harsh/radiation environments, schematic and PCB layout in Altium, lab bring-up, test/validation, debugging, and system integration. Collaborate closely with avionics, software, and systems engineers and learn from senior staff while mentoring junior teammates. Qualifications
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field. Approximately 5 years of hands-on hardware design and test experience (schematic, layout, bring-up). Proficiency with Altium Designer (schematic capture + PCB layout). Experience with circuit simulation tools (PSpice, LTSpice, or equivalent). Comfortable using lab equipment: oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, function generators, electronic loads. Proficient in Python or an equivalent scripting language for test automation and data analysis. Prior experience developing hardware for spaceflight or aerospace applications. Familiarity with radiation-tolerant design practices and component selection for deep-space environments. Experience with microcontroller systems (ARM Cortex series preferred). Background on early-stage, resource-constrained engineering teams. Experience making build vs. buy tradeoffs and coordinating manufacturing/fabrication. Compensation and Benefits
Target base salary: $120,000 – $140,000 annually (final offer depends on experience). Equity incentives (participation in company upside). Medical, dental, and vision plans with buy-up options. Short-term and long-term disability coverage. Basic life insurance. 401(k) plan. Generous PTO policy - results-focused culture.
