The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS) is seeking a Stationary Engineer to operate and maintain high-pressure heating and central refrigeration plants.

The Stationary Engineer has responsibility on a shift for the operation and maintenance of a combined high-pressure heating and central refrigeration plant. Responsibilities include operating, maintaining, repairing, and inspecting manual and automatic gas and oil fired high-pressure steam or high temperature hot water boilers, as well as motors, turbines, and steam driven equipment. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Completion of a Stationary Engineer's or Operation/Maintenance Engineer's apprentice program. Five years' experience in the operation and maintenance of high or low pressure gas or oil fired boilers and auxiliary equipment, with one year of experience in the operation and maintenance of refrigeration equipment. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Credit will be given for additional experience in the operation and maintenance of high or low pressure gas or oil fired boilers, auxiliary equipment, and refrigeration equipment. LICENSE:
A valid California Class C Driver License and an Unlimited Steam Engineer's License issued by the City of Los Angeles' Department of Building and Safety are required. PHYSICAL CLASS III – MODERATE:
Includes standing or walking most of the time, with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and reaching. The County of Los Angeles is a Fair Chance employer. Except for a very limited number of positions, you will not be asked to provide information about a conviction history unless you receive a contingent offer of employment.
