Role Overview In the Senior Project Manager – Engineering for the Water Business Group, you will shape how communities manage water for generations to come. From delivering safe drinking water, treating wastewater responsibly, to developing sustainable water supplies and protecting lives and property through flood control, your work will directly support public health, environmental sustainability, and infrastructure resilience.
Responsibilities
Plan, direct, and monitor all aspects of large multidisciplinary projects or medium-sized projects with high technical complexity, typically involving a large project staff.
Produce and coordinate several projects concurrently.
Establish client relations and be involved with marketing, contractual, design, and production meetings.
Coordinate staffing and workload of staff through the entire project development to complete documents on schedule.
Conduct schematic, design development, and contract document work sessions at project sites in conjunction with other Project Managers, appropriate technical professionals and other disciplines.
Work with the Business/Accounting Managers, Project Coordinators and Department Manager or Managing Principal for project reviews.
Implement QA/QC procedures and execute training for personnel as established.
Track financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust work effort with the team to ensure that work is completed within the parameters of the agreed-upon scope, schedule, and budget.
Supervise project staff and act as a mentor for less-experienced Project Managers.
Work with internal and external resources to put together contract drawings and documents in accordance with HDR’s quality standards.
Manage construction phase services such as submittal, shop drawing, and RFI review, coordination, and correspondence.
Manage technical components of pursuits and work with the marketing team to produce high-quality pursuit documents.
Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong technical writing and presentation skills.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
10 years related experience.
Minimum 5 years project management experience.
Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered (e.g., Professional Engineer license).
MS Office and MS Project experience (Access experience would be a plus).
Demonstrated leadership, business development and strategic planning skills.
