$38.00/hr - $38.00/hr FORTIS Industries is interviewing for a Boiler Tender for our Southern CA contracts. We are looking for candidates with ambition, a strong desire to learn new skills and ability and willingness to work with minimum supervision. Responsibilities

Tends to one or more boilers to produce steam or high-temperature water for use in an establishment. Fires Boiler(s). Observes and interprets readings on gauges, meters, and charts which register various aspects of boiler operation. Adjusts controls to insure safe and efficient boiler operation and to meet demands for steam or high temperature water. Maintains a log in which various aspects of boiler operation are recorded. Cleans, oils, makes minor repairs or assist in repair to boiler room equipment. Treats boiler water with chemicals and analyze boiler water for such things as acidity, causticity, and alkalinity, following prescribed methods. Knowledge/Skills/Education

Must have graduated from an accredited school with a degree in mechanical engineering plus 2 years of experience in design, construction, operation, or inspection of boilers and pressure vessels. OR graduated from an accredited school with a degree in a branch of engineering other than mechanical engineering plus 3 years of experience in design, construction, operation, or inspection of boilers and pressure vessels; or have a high school diploma or GED or equivalent plus 5 years of experience in one of the following categories: Boiler pressure vessel construction, operation maintenance, or repair. Inspection of boilers and pressure vessels Accredited school is defined as an engineering school accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering Technology (ABET). Licenses & Certifications

Must possess a valid, active state driver’s license. Must pass drug screening and background checks. Work Environment

Employees may be required to perform indoor or outdoor work during seasonal heat and cold or other adverse weather conditions. Employees may be required to work where they may be regularly exposed to fumes, dust, and odors. Some high noise levels from operations of equipment. Must be physically able to complete necessary tasks related to the maintenance. May have to work after normal work hours for on-call assignments. Pay Information

Full time/hourly non-exempt position $38.26 per hour plus health and welfare Benefits
