Overview
The Department of Environmental Studies at the College of the Holy Cross invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor specializing in environmental science to begin in August 2026. We seek an interdisciplinary environmental scientist with expertise in spatial data analysis and GIS methods in teaching and scholarship. The successful candidate will teach core courses and upper-level courses in their area(s) of interest. Responsibilities
Teach two core courses: ENVS 117 Environmental Science and ENVS 247 Introduction to GIS, as well as upper-level courses in the candidate’s area(s) of interest. Engage undergraduate students in scholarly activities and field-related projects, with a focus on environmental science and spatial analysis. Contribute to a department with strong emphasis on intersections between environmental science, policy, communication, and environmental justice. Qualifications
A Ph.D. in environmental science, physical or environmental geography (not human geography), an interdisciplinary environmental program with strong science foundations, ecology, global change biology, natural resource management, earth science, or a related field; required by the beginning of the appointment. Excellence in scholarship and undergraduate teaching with a commitment to inclusive pedagogies. Institutional Context

Teaching load: 3-2; includes a research leave prior to tenure review (full year at 80% salary or a semester at full salary) and opportunities for sabbatical/fellowship leaves for tenured faculty.
