Responsibilities
Lead project budgets and schedules, prepare specifications, assemble bid packages, attend design reviews, evaluate bids, and recommend to management.
Perform factory inspections, witness testing, and conduct equipment receiving inspections.
Provide engineering assistance for equipment field installation, startup, troubleshooting, and warranty claims.
Participate in vendor quality management and lead equipment trials.
Lead equipment failure root cause analysis and develop failure response plans.
Document equipment end‑of‑life recommendations.
Serve as an in‑house engineering consultant and advisor across SRP and external organizations.
Lead engineering project on critical projects and review technical studies from consultants.
Prepare written and oral reports, presentations, and participate in industry forums.
Travel domestically and internationally for job related purposes and perform field engineering work.
Qualifications
Knowledge of specifying and procuring major substation equipment, and experience in substation design.
Fundamentals of power transmission and distribution, including substation equipment applications.
Good understanding of substation design and maintenance.
Familiarity with design and safety practices including IEEE, ANSI, ASTM, NEC, and NESC.
Familiarity with electrical drawings and standards including relaying, control, and telecom.
Effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders and ability to handle multiple tasks.
Experience working under high pressure on critical equipment with compressed deadlines.
Excellent organizational and communication skills, oral and written.
Skilled at communicating complex concepts to varied audiences.
History of building strong relationships with customers, internal and external.
Willingness to think critically and offer solutions to complex problems.
Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related specialty is preferred.
Valid Arizona driver’s license.
Valid Arizona driver’s license is required for full‑time remote work up to three days per week.
