Job Title: Satellite Electrical Systems Engineer
Job Description As a Satellite Electrical Systems Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the system design and development of satellite electrical subsystems. You will lead the electrical subsystem design through flight build and test, ensuring the system-level documentation is defined and maintained accurately.
Responsibilities
Lead the design and development of electrical subsystems for satellites.
Define and maintain system-level documentation including satellite reference databases, CONOPS, and parameter books.
Own requirement definition, flow down, traceability, and verification matrices.
Conduct gap analyses to ensure subsystem alignment with mission goals.
Perform technical analysis including power budgets, failure mode analysis, and reliability assessments.
Drive fault detection, isolation, and recovery (FDIR) strategy.
Manage Interface Control Documents (ICDs) across various systems such as avionics, power, AOCS, propulsion, TT&C, thermal, and data handling.
Lead the testing and verification phases including qualification testing, thermal vacuum (TVAC), EMC/EMI, functional, and environmental qualification.
Oversee Launch and Early Orbit Phase (LEOP) and End of Orbit Readiness (EOR).
Maintain design reports, specifications, and verification matrices.
Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with software, mechanical, and ground segment teams.
Oversee subcontractor and vendor management, including participation in PDR, CDR, TRR, PSR, and LRR reviews.
Interface with launch providers and lead engineering during launch campaigns, LEOP, and In Orbit Testing (IOT).
Support Satellite Operations Control Center (SOCC) development and anomaly resolution.
Essential Skills
Expertise in satellite system design and spacecraft electrical architecture.
Proficiency in MATLAB for technical analysis.
Experience in power budget management and failure mode analysis.
Strong skills in Interface Control Document (ICD) management.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in operations and launch support.
Proficiency in In Orbit Testing (IOT).
Mentoring and leadership abilities.
Work Environment This position is primarily onsite with occasional work-from-home days. The role offers an exciting opportunity to work abroad, supporting a predominantly French-speaking province in Canada.
Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Canada. Relocation assistance will be offered.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $140000.00 - $215000.00/yr.
This will come with relocation assistance, free healthcare, TN Visa to work in CAN.
Workplace Type This is a fully onsite position in Houston,TX.
