Medical Technologist (MLT/MT) - Laboratory
Performs quality control procedures, monitor quality controls and documents results and corrective action as required per CLIA and instrument/manufacturer guidelines. Performs instrument scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, calls technical service, and documents troubleshooting. Performs waived, moderate, and complex testing according to written procedures. Notify provider or designee of critical or modified results. Assist with bone marrow collections. Assists in training new employees. Participates in new method evaluation and calibration verification. Keep Manager aware of procedure, unscheduled instrument maintenance, unacceptable quality control, schedule changes and other quality assurance issues. Evaluates quality and appropriateness of specimens before testing or sending to reference labs. Maintains clean and safe work area. Approves lab results in a timely manner and ensure results are sent to the appropriate location. Follow all CLIA, OSHA and AAAHC guidelines and requirements. Participates in proficiency testing and perform/document any necessary corrective action. Communicates with co-workers, clinical staff and providers to ensure patient testing is complete and accurate with positive, helpful attitude. Maintains stock of reagents and supplies and rotates stock as necessary. Readies specimens for reference labs. Be familiar with navigating in Orchard LIS and Electronic Health Records. Be a resource for Lab Tech Assistants and Phlebotomists. Responsibilities : Job Specific Competencies include performing quality control procedures, instrument maintenance, testing, and result notification. Assists with bone marrow collections, trains new employees, and participates in new method evaluation. Education : Minimum qualification is a Bachelor of Science or Associates Degree in Medical Technology, or Clinical Laboratory Scientist. Experience : Medical Laboratory experience is preferred. Certification/License : Medical Technologist/Technician licensed by ASCP/HHW/HEW, or CLS. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities : Knowledgeable of CLIA regulations. WORK ENVIRONMENT : Will be exposed to the danger of infection from disease bearing specimens and odorous chemicals and specimens.
