Overview WSP has a career opportunity for a dynamic and innovative individual to fill the role of
Mechanical / Piping Designer . Reporting to the Mechanical Department Manager and collaborating with team members, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of major and minor projects in mining & minerals, water treatment and heavy industry. Location options include South Jordan, UT; Phoenix, AZ; or Tucson, AZ.
Responsibilities
Will work as part of a team on a variety of projects including mining & minerals, water treatment and heavy industry
Use 3D computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) software and work closely with engineers to resolve design details or discrepancies, and to prepare drawings which require a high degree of precision on projects of moderate complexity and/or scope
Follow standard practices to provide technical design assistance and guidance that accounts for the proper illustration, fit form, and function using geometric dimensioning, tolerance and quantity calculations, while ensuring the constructability and maintainability of designs according to design standard specifications
Provide design and drafting for engineering deliverables including process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs), general arrangements and isometrics
Provide design and drafting for the layout, design and specification of mechanical equipment and piping for industrial plants and related infrastructure
Designing and drafting of equipment, piping, and auxiliary components in 2D and 3D drawing environments
Preparing project documents in accordance with project and company standards
Establishing good working relationships and communication with area leads, department managers, clients, and other team members to coordinate, ensuring the compatibility of design
Qualifications
Associate’s degree in computer aided drafting and design (CAD) or equivalent experience
9+ years’ experience working in the mechanical/piping discipline
Experience with operating plant layout, mechanical, and piping design
Well-defined knowledge of drafting and design support principles, practices, process, methods, and techniques
Proven experience with AutoCAD 2D, and experience with 3D design
Proficiency in Plant3D, Revit or newer software
Exposure to BIM or ACC is desired but not required
Self-motivated and ability to work in a team environment
Effective communication skills
Must pass background check
