Mobile Diesel Technician Level II . Responsibilities

Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT Inspections and follow-up repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Perform minor adjustment and repairs on various types of truck equipment including electrical/ braking/cooling systems, starters/alternators, fuel systems, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, differentials, etc. Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment and systems, including electrical, braking, cooling, air conditioning, engine electronics, and drivetrain components. Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges. Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation. Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, and evaluate alternatives. Independently manage parts inventory and equipment provided on the company-issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation. Maintain and operate the company-issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre-/post-trip inspections. Work with and listen effectively to clients and customers to assess needs, provide information or assistance, resolve problems, or satisfy expectations. Manage concurrent assigned tasks, prioritizing work activities and time allocations. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts and jacks. Document work according to company standards and upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders (RO) using a company-issued iOS device and TRAIT application. Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion. Work with a high degree of independence and manage daily schedule. Maintain a high level of productivity and work within or close to standard repair times. Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary for repairs. Communicate with management and support team via email or phone to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers, and discuss RO findings. Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health, and environmental policies, and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT. Maintain the company issued service truck, conduct safety checks, and daily pre-/post-trip inspections. Requirements

High School Diploma/GED and 3 years' experience in a related field. Alternatively, a different combination such as a higher degree/certification in a related discipline, or 5 years' experience in a related field. Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties. Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months. Must successfully complete and pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment (per FMCSA regulations). Current and valid DOT medical card with more than four months remaining may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical. If four months or less remain, a DOT physical is required. Minimum age of 21 due to interstate commerce regulations; valid driver’s license; ability to obtain and maintain Driver Qualification File; must have a class C license. Certifications

Required: ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months. Preferred: ASE T3 (Drivetrain), T4 (Brakes), T5 (Suspension), T6 (Electrical/Electronic Systems), T7 (HVAC), and T8 (EPA/608-609) certifications. Skills & Abilities

Ability to understand the implications of new information for current and future problem-solving and decision-making. Physical ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods; capable of performing moderately heavy labor. Strong communication skills for succinct, organized information sharing and effective two-way communication. Ability to determine appropriate tools and equipment for tasks. Pay range: USD 26.06 - 39.13 per hour; compensation may vary by location and candidate experience; additional incentives possible.
