Overview
WRS is partnered with a leading company in the chemical industry to hire a
Senior Project Engineer – Mechanical
based in Geismar. You will be part of the Engineering & Projects team (8 engineers + Lead) and be responsible for managing a portfolio of small to mid-sized capital and OPEX projects, ranging from $50k–$1M. You’ll work closely with the TAR Execution team to deliver high-quality, safe, and cost-effective engineering solutions. Responsibilities
Manage capital projects through Stages 1–3 and support execution leads on later stages. Perform mechanical/piping design, pipe stress analysis, CAD/3D modeling, and engineering calculations. Support OPEX projects, troubleshooting equipment issues, and provide technical solutions. Collaborate with operations, maintenance, contractors, and vendors to develop engineering packages. Ensure compliance with industry codes, regulatory standards, and company procedures. Contribute to design approval, project hazard reviews, and Management of Change (MOC) processes. Mentor peers and provide Q/A support on project engineering work. Monitor project budgets, schedules, and contractor performance. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Eligible for or registered with Louisiana Professional Engineering & Land Surveying Board (PE license preferred). 12–15+ years of engineering experience, with at least 5 years as a Project Engineer or Project Manager. Strong mechanical/piping design expertise, AutoCAD, Navisworks, CAESAR II, and project management knowledge. Familiarity with petrochemical industry standards, codes, and safety culture. Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
