This company has a strong reputation in the commercial HVAC and plumbing markets and is looking for a hands-on leader who can take ownership of the estimating process and help drive continued growth. Position Overview The Chief Estimator will be responsible for overseeing all estimating activities, including bid strategy, takeoffs, subcontractor/vendor coordination, and proposal development. This role requires a deep understanding of mechanical systems and the ability to manage multiple estimates for commercial HVAC and plumbing projects across various market sectors. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the estimating process from initial bid review through final submission Review drawings and specifications to develop complete, accurate mechanical estimates Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal project teams Prepare detailed scope sheets, budgets, and proposals for HVAC and plumbing work Track historical cost data and market trends to maintain competitive pricing Participate in preconstruction meetings and support handoff to project management Mentor junior estimators and contribute to overall departmental development Qualifications Minimum 8–10 years of mechanical estimating experience, including HVAC and plumbing Prior experience with commercial construction projects, including design-build and plan/spec Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, building codes, and construction processes Proficiency with estimating software and tools (e.g., Trimble Autobid, Quickpen, Bluebeam) Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills Ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment Compensation And Benefits Competitive base salary based on experience Performance-based bonuses Company vehicle or allowance Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, and 401(k) Paid time off and holidays Long-term stability with a growing, family-oriented company Application Process This is a confidential search.
