The HLW Civil Field Engineer is responsible for tasks and activities related to construction engineering within the Civil discipline (i.e., concrete, structural steel, excavation/backfill, scaffolding, architectural finishes) utilizing nuclear codes and standards. Responsibilities include development of work plans, coordinating materials, performing and documenting inspections, reporting progress, and resolving design and construction conflicts related to the installation and testing of commodities through turnover to Startup/Commissioning. Duties cover concrete, steel, earthwork, architectural installations, and interpretation of design and vendor drawings and specifications. Strong planning, organizational skills, and ability to produce clear documentation are required. Major Responsibilities

Provides field engineering support and assistance to superintendents and supporting personnel to meet cost and time schedules; verifies materials, equipment, and quality; ensures results meet design requirements. Develops work plans, coordinates material take-offs and requisitions, performs and documents inspections, reports progress, and resolves conflicts in design and construction related to civil commodities. Performs Civil Field Engineering activities including inspections, audits and planning to support the installation of formwork, rebar, concrete, structural steel, architectural items, earthwork; performs rigging support and planning for material and equipment. Ensures procedural compliance, material control, and thorough documentation of inspections for completed work. Directs or prepares quantity listings of field-purchased material and equipment and initiates field material purchase requisitions. Supports preparation of construction drawings and schedules, temporary construction facilities design, and ensures as-built drawings and other job plans are prepared. Supports planning and delivery of construction materials and equipment, ensuring proper warehousing and storage to protect the environment. Reviews specifications, purchase orders, subcontracts, inspection reports, delivery schedules, manuals, and technical data to advise on site. Oversees and coordinates subcontractor work efforts and interfaces with subcontract changes. Education And Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field from an accredited university and 1–2 years of progressive construction or civil engineering experience; or, in lieu of a degree, 5–6 years of progressive civil-related construction/craft experience. Must be authorized to work in the United States without Bechtel visa sponsorship now or in the future. Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check, including verification of employment and education. Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site (even if teleworking, must comply with security requirements). Non-U.S. citizens from certain countries may be subject to additional security requirements that limit site access. Must be physically able to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk-downs (extensive walking on site, climbing ladders/scaffolding, use of PPE, working in elevated or confined spaces). Minimum Qualifications

Required Knowledge and Skills: Experience with WTP, DOE, or DOD in a nuclear facility environment; experience supervising USA Building Trade Unions and craft professionals; familiarity with current industry quality standards; strong verbal and written communication; excellent organization and prioritization; ability to multitask; knowledge of Lock Out Tag Out safety requirements; knowledge of AISC and ACI codes; ability to read rebar placement, steel erection, and architectural finish drawings; computer literacy including 3D/4D modeling, word processing, spreadsheets, and database tools in Bechtel standards. Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of Nuclear Construction; experience with Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) and related tools; familiarity with Bechtel’s SWPPs or NWPPs; knowledge of Bechtel’s Zero Accident Safety Program and current industry standards; understanding ISMS principles; experience with Mathcad and MicroStation.
