The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist will perform all duties and tasks under the medical direction of an anesthesiologist. The position may involve shifts from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM, 9:00 AM to 9:30 PM, and 11:00 AM to 11:30 PM, including weekends and holidays. Work will be at various ORs and specialties, including OB as needed. The worksite locations will be both the Orange and Irvine campuses.

Under supervision of an anesthesiologist, perform safe anesthesia care, including pre-operative assessment, writing pre-op orders, administering anesthesia, patient monitoring intra-operatively, ensuring safe intra-op course and emergence, and assisting in post-operative care.

Your Role on the Team

California RN and Nurse Anesthetist License

ACLS Certification

AANA Certification

Availability for shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, call, and holidays

Knowledge of current nursing, anesthesia, and critical care techniques, evidenced by:

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and nurse anesthesia

Valid California RN and Nurse Anesthetist licenses

Current NBCRNA certification

Current ACLS certification

Proficiency in pre-operative assessment, monitoring modalities, pharmacology, anesthesia techniques, airway management, emergency response, and documentation

Ability to perform all techniques of monitored, regional, and general anesthesia employed at UCI

Ability to recognize and manage adverse effects and complications

Ability to assist in emergency situations, including CPR and airway management

Supervisory and administrative skills, including supervising students and assessing progress
