Job Summary
Under general direction of a Forensic Technician Supervisor, performs duties related to the intake, autopsy, release, specimen/evidence preparation and toxicology analysis functions of the Medical Examiner in accordance with all applicable SOPs.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a High School Diploma or GED test certificate AND four (4) years full-time work experience in a funeral home, morgue, body transport service or Medical Examiner’s/coroner’s office. OR Graduation from an accredited university or college with an Associate’s Degree AND two (2) years full-time work experience in a funeral home, morgue, body transport service or Medical Examiner’s/coroner’s office. OR Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science; Criminal Justice; or Forensic Science.
Additional Requirements
Must work in a morgue environment requiring close proximity to deceased remains and exposure to unpleasant sights, smells, blood and other body fluids. Must work rotating shifts to provide 24/7 coverage including holidays and weekends.
Safety Sensitive
This position is considered a safety-sensitive position. Candidates must pass a required drug test as part of the pre-employment background check process.
Physical Requirements
Very Heavy work involves exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
