Academic Technologies (AT), a unit of the office of Academic Strategy & Affairs (ASA), is the campus leader in the design and integration of technologies in state‑of‑the‑art learning environments. This position ensures the seamless operation of integrated audiovisual systems within classrooms, conference rooms, computer labs, and event spaces.

Duties & Responsibilities Audio‑Visual System Maintenance and Repair

Perform systematic and high‑quality diagnostic troubleshooting, repair, or adjustment to integrated audiovisual systems.

Retrieve and load control system code; configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and support audio‑visual control systems (e.g., Crestron).

Configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and support audio Digital Signal Processors (e.g., Biamp).

Configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and support lecture capture hardware and other devices such as digital signage, video players, Apple TVs, IP cameras, and networked equipment.

Utilize software tools (e.g., Crestron Fusion, Biamp Tesira, Crestron xPanels, Crestron Toolbox) for remote support and monitoring.

De‑install/install system components, devices, and equipment; repair connectors, cables, and other system components.

Provide detailed status of system repair and follow up on unresolved issues.

Perform comprehensive audio‑visual system maintenance in classrooms and learning spaces.

Clean various AV equipment, including camera lenses, monitors, and equipment fans.

Technical Support And Incident Resolution

Perform support functions needed to maintain the fully operational status of classroom technology and other facilities.

Respond to technical support calls in classrooms, conference rooms, computer labs, and event spaces.

Troubleshoot technical problems and resolve or escalate incidents to restore defined service levels.

Provide additional equipment as a workaround in the event of equipment failure to reduce downtime for classes and/or events.

Perform root cause analysis and document troubleshooting procedures through resolution.

Troubleshoot and support various campus partner services, including campus networks, lecture capture, streaming systems, and software used by instructors in classrooms.

Provide desktop computer support for classroom computers, including software and hardware maintenance, computer image deployment, and end‑user support.

Maintain communication with customers, informing them of incident progress via thorough ticket documentation and the use of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Resolve incident and request records as assigned.

Coordination And Training

Provide hands‑on, site‑specific orientation and technical training in classrooms and conference rooms, including patron, student, staff, and train‑the‑trainer scenarios.

Provide training to end users in the operations of audio‑visual systems.

Consult with end‑users as necessary to ensure that software and technology support needs are met.

Vendor Liaison And Inventory Management

Act as a liaison with third‑party audio‑visual vendors in relation to warranty, technical support, and training.

Process Return Merchandise Authorizations for equipment or research parts and repair equipment.

Maintain a thorough inventory of equipment, furniture, and supplies.

Conduct or lead equipment inventory and classroom maintenance audits.

Assist in the maintenance of web‑based inventory and asset management databases.

Submit purchase requests for equipment and supplies to maintain audio, video, control systems, and other technology projects.

Procure equipment and supplies for audio, video, control systems, and other technologies.

Required Qualifications

One year of experience as a Computer Maintenance Technician II, or five years of experience as a computer maintenance technician or equivalent education/experience.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

Additional Requirements/Conditions Of Employment

Must achieve Avixia CTS Certification within one year of hire date.

Must complete required UW training within probationary period.

Desired Qualifications

AVIXA CTS, CTS‑I or CTS‑D Certification.

Crestron DMC‑E‑4K or DM‑NVX‑N Certification.

Biamp Tesira Certification.

CTI‑P101 Foundations of Crestron Programming Certification.

CompTia Network+ and Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).

Additional Certifications or formal training by AV manufacturers (e.g., Crestron, Extron, Biamp, QSC, etc.).

Knowledge of signal flow for audio, video and control.

MDT and SCCM software deployment.

ITIL service management skills.

Excellent written, verbal and electronic communication skills.

Levelheadedness, with an ability to perform in stressful situations.

Demonstrated excellence in customer service.

Ability to use hand and power tools in a safe and efficient manner.

Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, ServiceNow, Request Tracker, Zoom, AutoCAD, Crestron Fusion, Crestron Toolbox, and Google Suite products.

Licensed to operate a motor vehicle in the state of Washington.

Workspace Conditions Must be able to safely lift equipment weighing up to 50lbs. Able to work comfortably on ladders, lifts and in high places as well as in tight conditions such as found in crawl spaces, equipment closets and cabinets.

Compensation, Benefits And Position Details Pay Range Minimum: $73,608.00 annual Pay Range Maximum: $99,012.00 annual
