About The Job As the Manager of Carrier Sourcing, you will lead Odyssey’s Carrier Sales team to secure reliable and cost‑effective carrier capacity. This role blends people management, sourcing strategy, and execution oversight. You’ll coach and develop Carrier Sales Representatives, strengthen carrier networks, and align sourcing strategies with customer and operations needs. Success in this role requires strong leadership, market knowledge, and a proactive, results‑oriented approach to freight brokerage.

In This Role, You Will

Manage and mentor a team of Carrier Sales Representatives through coaching and performance feedback.

Establish activity expectations around carrier sourcing, call volume, and load coverage.

Build and maintain a strong carrier network across truckload, LTL, intermodal, and expedited freight.

Develop sourcing strategies to secure consistent capacity at competitive rates.

Oversee prebooking strategy to achieve 70%+ lead‑time coverage.

Ensure timely coverage of all shipments, with escalation protocols for at‑risk loads.

Monitor carrier service metrics including on‑time pickup/delivery, fall‑offs, and recovery efficiency.

Partner with procurement and leadership on routing guide depth and enterprise carrier programs.

Lead resolution of escalated incidents, claims, and service failures.

Track and report team performance against KPIs including SLA adherence, prebooking %, and load coverage.

Collaborate with sales and account management to align carrier strategies with customer needs.

Provide carrier market intelligence to sales leadership for pricing and proposals.

Conduct bi‑weekly team performance reviews and implement process improvements.

Provide leadership with market updates, trend analysis, and cost benchmarking insights.

3–5 years of experience in freight brokerage or logistics, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.

Proven success in building and managing carrier sales teams.

Strong knowledge of carrier networks, procurement strategies, and market dynamics.

Proficiency in TMS platforms, load boards (DAT, Truckstop), and tracking tools (MacroPoint, FourKites).

Excellent leadership, coaching, and team‑building skills.

Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills.

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.

Desired

Experience developing strategic sourcing initiatives across multiple freight modes.

Prior success managing KPIs and performance metrics in a brokerage environment.

Background in process improvement or continuous improvement methodologies.
