Sr. Electrical Engineer (Power/Utilities)
engages with clients, evaluates energy needs, develops concept-level plans and solutions, and advances these through detailed design to full execution. The role offers an end-to-end life-cycle service from exploration, development, operation, and repowering/retirement. Demonstrated abilities include a broad understanding of power systems and electrical engineering sciences. Experience in consulting, design, design management and project management is highly regarded, as is experience in Owner’s Engineer roles or contract management, advisory (technical advisor/due diligence) roles, and strategic project development. Responsibilities
Engage with clients to understand energy needs and project objectives Develop concept-level plans and solutions for power/utilities projects Lead and contribute to detailed design and full project execution Provide end-to-end lifecycle services from exploration through operation and repowering/retirement Support business development and client relationship management; assist in proposal development and opportunity identification Qualifications
10+ years of professional experience in Electrical Engineering Background primarily in Utility / Power projects Active Professional Engineer (PE) license (highly preferred) Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (EE) or related field Willingness to join on a temp-to-perm basis Preferred Experience
Power distribution systems and microgrids Power generation projects exceeding 10 MW HV or MV substations Renewable energy projects (wind, solar, hydro, geothermal, etc.) Energy storage systems Power system modeling using SKM Power Tools, ETAP or similar software Protection and Control, SCADA or power system automation Campus utility master planning or decarbonization/climate response planning Cogeneration or combined heat and power systems Thermal utility plants and distribution systems Job Qualifications
Bachelor's or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering or related field 10+ years of engineering design and/or consulting experience; PE licensure in the US, with ability to obtain licensure in additional states if required Proven ability to engage with clients, develop relationships, win work, and deliver innovative solutions Experience in business growth strategy and pursuing new project opportunities with emerging technologies Experience with proposal development and project execution planning, including scope and man-hour estimates Mentoring and development of junior technical staff Strong communication and technical writing skills Availability to travel as required (typically
Hybrid work requirement: must be in one of the core office locations at least 2 days per week; locations include Ft. Worth TX, Greenville SC, Denver CO, Philadelphia PA, Cary NC, Chicago IL Salary Range
$130k/yr. – $200k/yr.
