Position Summary Provide overall management direction on one or more mechanical projects (up to $10 million) and develop new business opportunities related to specific clients, industries, or geographical areas.
Assume primary leadership responsibilities for each project in partnership with the project superintendent.
Evaluate contractual scope, plan, organize, and staff project positions through regional department heads and project managers.
Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within corporate policies.
Coordinate with clients and A/E contacts to facilitate successful construction activities.
Negotiate, prepare, and issue subcontracts.
Monitor project development, prepare schedules, and control project costs and budgets.
Manage financial aspects to ensure profitability and positive cash flow.
Manage risks and implement corrective measures as needed.
Seek additional work through change orders.
Ensure document control compliance.
Attend progress meetings and build long-term relationships with stakeholders.
Supervise and mentor other project managers or assistants.
Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
Thorough understanding of industry practices and standards.
Strong project management skills including documentation, cost control, procurement, scheduling, and negotiation.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
OSHA-30 certification (must be obtained within six months if not already certified).
Proficiency in MS Office and ability to learn new software.
Relevant degree or equivalent experience (4-year mechanical engineering or construction science preferred).
5-10 years of construction design, finance, and management experience.
