The Hargrove Recruiting Team is looking for talented Structural Engineers to join our team in Kingsport, Tennessee.
This role is ideal for someone with experience with AISC, ACI, steel structures such as pipe racks and process structures, and concrete foundations and structures. What You’ll Be Doing Job Summary
Generally responsible for performing all aspects for complete designs of small and large civil/structural engineering assignments using theoretical knowledge and practical design methods. This work will be performed under general supervision. This position is a full-time, long-term opportunity as part of Hargrove's Technical Services team providing a "One Team" culture. Relocation support may be available for those who qualify. Primary Responsibilities (will include but not be limited to)
Familiarity with and utilizing department design and drafting standards. Familiarity with project scope, specifications and design criteria on project task teams. Develop conceptual layouts and cost studies to determine the simplest, most efficient approach. Produce estimate-level preliminary designs and material take-offs for the project’s estimate. Produce detailed design calculations and sketches for materials of construction; ensure they are neat, organized, and usable by others, drafters, and as deliverables. Design with efficient use of construction materials, focusing on ease of construction and client satisfaction. Check calculations by other engineers for accuracy and conformance to codes and specifications. Assist the drafting group in resolving layout and detailing problems; provide sufficient sketches and details for engineering drawings. Consult with design leaders from other disciplines to ensure smooth flow of information for timely project completion. Advise senior engineer on design or scope changes identified during work. Assist in developing packages for civil/structural procurement and subcontract pricing. Review vendor and other discipline drawings for civil/structural input. Develop construction specifications; review fabrication drawings and submittals for conformance. Perform fieldwork to gather data, check ties-ins, and provide construction support. Provide technical guidance to less experienced drafting and engineering personnel. Able to lead small to medium-sized teams and coordinate civil/structural efforts with scope, schedule, and budget focus. Develop small work-sharing packages for interoffice execution support. Education:
Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university is required. Structural coursework is required for structural engineering positions. Experience:
This position requires 3+ years of relevant industrial experience in civil/structural engineering. Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Knowledge and application of the International Building Code and associated standards (ASCE, AISC, ACI). Expertise with civil/structural analysis software and interpreting results. Knowledge of disciplinespecific methods, practices and techniques for process and manufacturing projects. Able to lead a small to medium team to deliver commitments. Working knowledge of CAD software, AutoCAD or Microstation (or both). Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Good verbal and written communication skills. Virtual team skills and ability to provide interoffice execution support with general supervision. Physical Requirements
