is a Strategic Partner for Global Alternate Mission Equipment and Sustainment. The Marvin Group, a leading defense contractor, develops and manufactures systems for military aerospace and vehicles. Based in Southern California near LAX, The Marvin Group consists of Marvin Engineering (MEC), Marvin Test Solutions (MTS), and Marvin Land Systems (MLS). Marvin Engineering designs and produces military Alternate Mission Equipment. Marvin Test Solutions designs and manufactures armament Test Equipment. Marvin Land Systems specializes in the design and build of power and thermal management systems. For over 60 years we have maintained “A Tradition of Excellence,” supporting all branches of the Department of Defense and global allies. Our collaboration extends across programs with major contractors such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Raytheon.

Scope

As part of the R&D team, the Power Electronics Engineer will development of products, such as motor drives, switch mode power supplies, power factor correction units, etc.

Responsibilities

Design high-power motor controllers, power regulators, high efficiency AC-DC power converters, DC-DC converters, synchronous rectifiers and battery management solutions. Design hardware for motor control systems utilizing embedded processors, DSPs, memory devices, OPAMPs, A/D and D/A converters, as well as peripheral devices such as RS232, RS485, CAN bus, ModBus, USB interfaces, Ethernet and I2C interfaces, as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Support new product introduction to manufacturing and through product lifecycle. Design PCBs for motor control hardware utilizing techniques to prevent EMC and EMI. Designing and selecting hardware for high temperature environments. Capture designs utilizing DxDesigner, Allegro for design and schematic capture. Design PCB layout, to control heat and transients. Robust testing / validation / documentation methodology for design verification. Supervise and support junior engineers.

Skills / Requirements

US citizenship or permanent residency is required. A Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree or equivalent professional experience is required. A degree in Electrical Engineering or related focus is preferred. Minimum 7 years of proven experience in power electronics engineering is required. Advanced knowledge of electric drives and electrical circuits (Altium preferred). Familiarity with networking protocols and standards, including TCP/IP, CAN, Bluetooth. Experience with integration of military systems/standards is a plus. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to work well within a team. Must be able to speak/read/write English. Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
