$95,000.00/yr - $115,000.00/yr Reports To: Engineering Manager / Director of Product Engineering Overview

The Hydraulics Engineer is responsible for designing, analyzing, and testing hydraulic systems and components, including high-pressure metal hoses, fittings, and related assemblies. This role supports both new product development and existing system improvements, working closely with cross-functional teams in engineering, manufacturing, and quality. Responsibilities

Design hydraulic components and assemblies, including flexible metal hoses, fittings, and bellows for high-pressure fluid applications Perform fluid dynamics and hydraulic system analysis to ensure performance, reliability, and efficiency Select appropriate materials, seals, and components for hydraulic system compatibility Develop prototypes and conduct validation testing (burst, pressure cycling, impulse, leak, etc.) Analyze test data to confirm design meets performance specs and safety margins Collaborate with lab and quality teams to refine hydraulic product performance Assist in root cause analysis of hydraulic failures or leak issues in the field or during production Create detailed engineering drawings, BOMs, and documentation Support manufacturing with design-for-assembly, tooling, and production troubleshooting Customer & Application Engineering

Interface with customers to understand application requirements and provide technical support Customize hydraulic solutions to meet unique system needs, including OEM applications Prepare technical documentation, installation guidelines, and support for product integration Compliance & Standards

Ensure designs comply with industry standards (SAE, ISO, DIN, etc.) Support regulatory compliance and quality system documentation (e.g. FMEA, PPAP, DFMEA) Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fluid Power Technology, or related field 3+ years of experience in hydraulic system design, fluid power, or component engineering Strong understanding of fluid mechanics, pressure ratings, flow calculations, and system losses Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.) and hydraulic analysis tools Familiarity with metal hose design, hydraulic fittings, or fluid system components Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills Experience with flexible metal hoses, bellows, or dynamic fluid systems Knowledge of automotive, industrial, or aerospace hydraulic systems Familiarity with FEA, CFD, or system modeling software Certification or coursework in fluid power (IFPS) is a plus Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement training Mix of office/design engineering work and time on the production floor or test lab Exposure to pressurized fluid systems and mechanical test equipment (PPE required) May require occasional travel to customer sites, vendors, or other company facilities Possible overtime or adjusted hours to support production or test deadlines Seniority level
