As a part of the thermal group, you will be part of developing next generation clean energy solutions, accelerating our progress towards a sustainable energy future. You will play a key role in the architecture, design, validation, of Generac’s clean energy products, with emphasis on design and validation of innovative thermal solutions.

Responsibilities

Architecting, designing, modeling, and validating thermal solutions in ESS/power electronics

Building CFD models and instrumented thermal test vehicles to validate models

Creating innovative product enabling thermal solutions that balance form and function

Optimizing thermal solutions for performance, DFM/DFA, size, acoustics, reliability, cost

Providing clear and actionable guidance to engineering teams for detailed design

Sizing and selecting components for passive, air, liquid, and 2-phase thermal solutions

Interfacing with thermal suppliers for component selection, validation, and integration

Partnering with validation & reliability teams to define thermal test parameters

Partnering with SW/FW to provide thermal policies for control algorithms

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field

5+ years of experience working in thermal solutions on power electronics

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge modeling passive-cooling, air cooling, liquid cooling, 2-phase, batteries, solar radiation

Knowledge in sizing and selection of fans, radiators, heat sinks, heat pipes, etc.

Knowledge with instrumentation and data acquisition methods for thermal validation

Knowledge proficiency with Ansys, Flotherm, or Star CCM (or other leading CFD packages)

Knowledge of heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics
