Engineer (Power Plant)

Responsibilities
Provide engineering and technical support for Power Plant Operations and Maintenance (O&M) to improve the reliability and availability of generating units. Participate in developing work scopes, estimates, justifications, work plans and material/services for plant projects and assigned systems. Manage and provide technical direction for plant maintenance and modification projects from inception to completion with some oversight and/or direct supervision. Develop and maintain budget for assigned projects with some oversight and/or direct supervision. Assist in the development technical specifications for plant projects, Request for Proposals (RFPs) and provide engineering evaluation for bid documents. Provide technical support and troubleshooting to Operations and Maintenance for operational reliability. Evaluate technical and commercial components of contractor proposals based on engineering requirements, projected schedule, reasonable price, construction capabilities, references and safety history. Support NERC compliance reviews and projects and/or testing to ensure compliance is maintained/achieved. Coordinate with multiple parties to ensure effective and efficient completion of projects. Manage multiple service and supplier contracts and purchase orders. Perform other duties as assigned. Technical Requirements
Working knowledge of the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of various power generation systems including mechanical, electrical, environmental, gas, chemical, electro-mechanical, electro-hydraulic systems and related equipment. Familiarity with inspection/testing equipment, safety permits, manuals, process diagrams, drawings/diagrams, technical papers and industry standards. Experience with work orders, procurement documents, data analysis, budgeting, inventory management, and safety equipment. Proficiency in Software Applications (e.g., AutoCAD, Solidworks, Microsoft Project) and ability to apply algebra, calculus, statistics and engineering principles. Ability to perform financial and economic analysis (e.g., NPV, ROI) and to work standby and call-out as necessary. Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams. Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and standard office equipment. Education/ Certification/ Years of Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university. Valid Driver’s License. Working Conditions
This job involves disagreeable working conditions where elements are occasionally present to the extent of being objectionable; regular exposure to work situations that could result in incapacitating accidents of, on occasion, loss of life. This job involves working very frequently near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat (non-weather) and vibration. This job involves occasionally working in wet, humid conditions (non-weather), high precarious places or in confined areas. This job may involve occasionally working with toxic or caustic chemicals, and the risk of electric shock. This job may involve occasionally working in outdoor conditions. Physical Requirements
This job requires constant reading. This job may require very frequent standing, walking, sitting, typing and driving of a company vehicle. This job may require frequent lifting up to 20 lbs., bending/stooping, reaching over head and writing.
