Overview

OUC - The Reliable One is seeking an Instrumentation & Control Technician II to join the Electric & Water Production division. OUC is a municipal utility committed to innovation, sustainability, and the community. The ideal candidate will develop mastery of I&C work functions within the power plant and have experience with systems such as Ovation, Foxboro, Eclipse, and Enterprise I. In this role, you will troubleshoot and maintain Instrumentation and Control (I&C) systems throughout the power plant, program control logic and graphics, and offer alternative solutions with recommendations for corrective action. Responsible for troubleshooting and maintenance of I&C systems, and programming control logic and graphics. The Tech II classification focuses on mastering I&C work functions, with specialization in a specific area of the Power Plant while gaining familiarity with other areas over time. EOE statements and accessibility information are included at the end of this description. Responsibilities

Troubleshoot power plant I&C systems, identify problems, evaluate alternative solutions, and implement corrective actions. Perform maintenance on equipment and technology enabling control, measurements (heat, pressure, vibration, etc.), calibration, and feedback displays for power plant equipment and systems (e.g., steam turbines, valves, bearings, turbines, fans, pumps, gear pumps, vertical dry pit pumps, air compressors, hydraulic systems, conveyors, crushers). Advanced tasks may be performed under supervision until proficiency is demonstrated. Assist with programming control logic and design graphical displays for feedback systems using Emerson Ovation DCIS to ensure accurate readings reach control rooms and operators. Plan and perform installation of new control systems and upgrades on existing systems. Utilize P&IDs and other documentation to perform I&C work. Mentor and guide lower-classification technicians to support learning and progression. Demonstrate proficiency of Electric Technician skills at the Tech III level (competent in less complex tasks, developing in moderate/advanced tasks). Perform other duties as assigned. Technical Requirements

Working knowledge of OSHA safety practices and procedures (LOTO, PPE, vehicle safety, fire safety, fall-arrest and confined spaces, etc.). Installing, upgrading, and maintaining I&C systems for heavy equipment (power plant, industrial, etc.). Power plant systems, their redundancies, and outage schedules (preferred). Interpretation and editing of documents outlining equipment layout, configuration, and specifications (blueprints, P&IDs, etc.). Use of tools and measurement devices (hand tools, HART devices, voltmeters, micrometers, etc.). Basics of electrical theory. Familiarity with

Software/technologies: Ovation, Foxboro, Eclipse (LOTO procedures), JD Edwards EnterpriseOne (E1) for TRs/PM work orders, databases (Access or similar), PLCs (Modicon, Allen-Bradley preferred). Power Plant operations (preferred). Regulatory guidelines, best practices, and procedures; strong problem solving, time management, and communication skills. Ability

Learn and comply with OUC safety practices (LOTO, PPE, safety protocols). Perform arithmetic computations and use Microsoft Office Suite with basic proficiency. Education/Certification/Experience

High School Diploma or GED. Minimum of four (4) years of power plant I&C maintenance experience, or seven (7) years of industrial I&C maintenance experience. Certifications and specialized trainings required upon hire and maintained thereafter. Completion of General Physics (GPI) learnings and JPMs through I&C Technician III progression (or equivalent external training). Florida Driver’s License. Working Conditions

This job requires willingness to work extended hours including nights, weekends, and holidays. Work may be in areas with elevations over 100 feet, confined spaces, loud/noisy environments, chemicals, noxious fumes, vibration, extreme heat, insects, and occasionally extreme weather. There is a risk of electrical shock. Physical Requirements

Constant or very frequent standing, walking, sitting, climbing, speaking and hearing, typing, and close reading/inspection. Frequent lifting up to 40 lbs; occasional lifting 50+ lbs; bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, kneeling/crawling, reaching overhead. Regular use of company vehicles.
