We are seeking a Maintenance Manager to be based in Dallas, TX. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this role will plan and oversee the work of the maintenance staff and ensure safe and efficient operations for the facility. The position is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the facility, including the proper functioning of all electrical and mechanical systems. The ideal candidate will have a technical degree and 10 years of maintenance-related experience and/or training in a similar field; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Experience in lean manufacturing or a business system-based company is a plus. What you’ll do
Provide supervision and leadership to plant maintenance employees Monitor spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment inventories and coordinate reordering when necessary Ensure operating/training manuals are up to date and used for training employees Enter maintenance-related data into systems as needed/appropriate Participate in Lean Manufacturing activities and promote the plant Lean culture Coordinate and/or perform inspection of building and equipment as required by regulatory agencies Oversee maintenance functions with a drive to eliminate repetitive issues by developing personnel and using metrics to help make decisions Minimize breakdowns or production disruptions by developing a preventative maintenance and inspection schedule Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure proper functioning of equipment, safety and environmental compliance Create Capex plans for the facility and work with Operations and Management on equipment improvements Lead safety initiatives and enforce company policy regarding EH&S and Lean Initiatives Create and adhere to departmental budgets Lead maintenance transformation from a break/fix culture to a reliability-based maintenance culture Perform other duties as assigned What you’ll bring
Associates or technical degree and 10 years of maintenance-related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience (Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred) Experience in tubing/pipe environment or similar heavy manufacturing with supervisory experience preferred Strong mechanical and electrical skillsets Ability to read and create electrical schematics and mechanical drawings Ability to use CAD and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) General PLC programming knowledge Understanding of basic machine shop tools, welding and metal fabrication Familiar with electric code requirements Experience with installation and disassembly of machinery and equipment Strong math skills for quick and accurate counting and calculations Attention to detail, time management, and organization Effective leadership and problem-solving skills with strong interpersonal communication Adaptable to changing work environments with multiple competing demands Commitment to Atkore’s core values of Integrity, Respect, Excellence, Teamwork and Accountability Operating knowledge of Milacron, Negri-Bossi and Battenfeld extrusion/injection molding machines; familiarity with Eptura Management software and JD Edwards MRP Within 3 months
Complete required training Develop relationships with key stakeholders for this role Understand Atkore’s Business System and the role in daily operations Within 6 months
Update training materials and procedures Collaborate with Safety and HR to address safety, production, and HR issues Strengthen the team’s alignment with Atkore’s core values Within 12 months
