Maintenance Manager

SUMMARY:
The Maintenance Manager is a hands-on, strategic leader responsible for ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of all equipment and facilities in a corrugated packaging environment.
This role plays a key part in minimizing downtime, executing a strong preventive maintenance program, and supporting production and safety goals. The ideal candidate brings a solid technical background in mechanical and electrical systems, expertise in maintenance best practices, and proven leadership experience in manufacturing. A commitment to continuous improvement, team development, and operational excellence is essential, along with the flexibility to support critical operations during off-hours as needed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Supervise, train, and support 11 maintenance personnel across all shifts, promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. Enforce OSHA regulations and company safety policies, including PPE, LOTO, hot work permits, and daily safety meetings. Develop and manage a reliability-centered preventive maintenance program for all plant equipment and facilities to reduce downtime and extend asset life. Provide hands-on support in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems-particularly corrugated and converting machinery. Oversee the use of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (Limble) for work order tracking, PM schedules, inventory, reporting, and data analysis. Partner with production leadership to prioritize maintenance needs, coordinate shift handovers, and ensure timely response to equipment issues affecting output. Plan and supervise outside service providers, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and quality expectations. Maintain accurate records of critical spare parts, tools, and supplies to support maintenance operations without delays or excess cost. Ensure proper operation of boilers, water treatment systems, compressed air, and other plant infrastructure, looking for opportunities to reduce utility costs. Analyze maintenance performance, identify trends or inefficiencies, and implement process improvements to boost uptime and reduce costs. Track maintenance expenses, obtain competitive bids, and support capital planning and equipment purchasing decisions. Provide daily and weekly updates to the Plant Manager on maintenance activities, labor utilization, KPIs, and any issues impacting plant performance.
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide coaching, performance evaluations, training, and development opportunities to build a technically proficient and motivated team Act as a strategic partner to the Production Superintendent, ensuring clear communication, balanced ownership of plant operations, and effective escalation of issues. Support hands-on troubleshooting and validation of equipment repairs Maintain accurate documentation for safety, training, and performance. Manage scheduling, time-off approvals, and corrective actions, while working closely with Human Resources on recruitment, on-boarding, and employee relations Bring structure and visibility to maintenance operations through disciplined use of the Limble for work orders, PMs, data analysis, and inventory management. Be available during off-hours as needed to ensure timely completion of critical maintenance activities
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Required •A high school diploma or GED •Ability to pass an electrical aptitude test •PLC troubleshooting experience •3+ years of demonstrated leadership in industrial maintenance experience •Strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance •Proven ability to coach, lead, and hold teams of 5+ accountable •Demonstrated competency with a CMMS •Expert in Maintenance and Reliability Best Practices
Preferred •5+ years •An associate's degree or higher in Industrial Maintenance, Industrial Technology, etc •Prior experience in the corrugated industry

While carrying out the responsibilities of this role, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and communicate effectively. Frequent activities include using hands for fine motor tasks such as handling or manipulating objects, reaching with arms, and performing movements such as stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Sitting may be required occasionally.
The role involves regularly lifting and/or moving objects up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting and/or moving items weighing up to 100 pounds.
Visual requirements include the ability to see clearly at close and long distances, distinguish colors, maintain peripheral awareness, perceive depth, and adjust focus as needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Employees are frequently exposed to moving machinery, heat, noise, dust, moving machinery, wet and/or hot and humid conditions. Occasional exposure to elevated work areas, airborne particles, or fumes may occur. The work environment is generally loud. PPE requirements include safety glasses, steel toe botts or shoes, and hearing protection.
