Qualifications
Valid License though Ohio Speech and Hearing Professionals Board Master's Degree in Communication Disorders or Hearing and Speech Sciences Valid Pupil Services License through the Ohio Department of Education Certificate of Clinical Competence through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Demonstrated skill in oral and written communication Willingness to work. Demonstrates good organizational skills Demonstrates good decision-making skills. Demonstrates good listening skills. Satisfactory work record. High mental and visual effort required.
Overall Duties :
The Speech/Language Pathologist is responsible for evaluating and providing speech/language consultation or direct services according to the student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP). The position is evaluated by the Director of Special Education or designee.
The following is a list of specific duties which are considered to be essential functions of this job. The list is not exhaustive. The employee who occupies this position is expected to assume any/all duties assigned by the Superintendent or the employee’s immediate supervisor, irrespective of whether such duties are specifically included in this list. Specific Duties And Responsibilities
Participates as a member of the multi-factored evaluation (MFE) team by evaluating in the area of speech language and attending MFE team meetings. Evaluates students referred for a multi-factored evaluation (MFE) or reevaluation by using appropriate evaluation techniques and instruments, writes reports for the MFE team report and interprets test results to staff and parents. Facilitates the multi-factored evaluation or re-evaluation process and the completion of the multi-factored evaluation team report for students evaluated for speech/language only identification. Participates in the development of the IEP for each assigned student. Implements the IEP for each assigned student. Writes lesson plans and implements an instructional program that meets the needs for each assigned student. Implements appropriate instructional methods to meet the goals and objectives of each student’s IEP. Implements appropriate diagnostic and evaluative strategies related to the goals and objectives of each student’s IEP. Maintains records and documentation of current evaluation data related to the goals and objectives of each student’s IEP. Collaborates with parents, regular and special education teachers, administrators and support staff regarding the speech and language needs of students. Collaborates with the Transition Coordinator, parents and students in designing and implementing transition plans. Participates on building teams such as IAT, kindergarten screening, as appropriate. Participates in professional growth activities through staff development, inservices, workshops and higher education. Maintains Ohio Board of Speech Language Pathology and Audiology. Follows federal and state laws, state standards, and district policies and procedures related to special education. Performs other responsibilities assigned by the Director of Special Education or designee.
