Overview
Occupational Therapist, per diem - Pediatric Acute Care at NYU Langone Health. Responsible for evaluating occupational therapy needs and implementing comprehensive, medically prescribed occupational treatment to assigned patients within a supervised rehabilitation program. Job Responsibilities
Initial assessment and evaluation of occupational therapy needs for assigned patient populations. Review medical charts to ascertain important medical information and clarify referral/OT treatment orders as needed. Select appropriate OT assessment tools and methods to determine patient status and develop an optimal treatment plan. Demonstrate clinical decision-making and adapt the OT Treatment Plan as necessary. Implement treatment plans and protocols according to current professional and health system standards. Establish achievable treatment goals with the patient and family. Select appropriate assistive devices and refer patients to other clinical services to achieve goals. Educate and train patients and families during the rehabilitation process. Complete all required documentation for patient care and reimbursement in the medical chart in accordance with department guidelines and JC/CARF requirements; ensure clinical documentation is thorough and uses appropriate medical terminology. Participate in clinical education of fieldwork students and other professional education endeavors. Teach and supervise students in occupational therapy techniques and procedures, promoting positive learning experiences. Maintain professional appearance and conduct; adhere to department procedures and policies; demonstrate continued proficiency in skills relevant to the patient population; perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy New York State Occupational Therapy License or temporary permit (OT license required within three months of employment if hired with a permit) Good communication and interpersonal skills BLS (American Heart Association) or CPR/AED certification required upon entry Licenses
