The Mechanical Maintenance Planner is responsible for maintaining the equipment at the Charleston Performance Chemicals Plant through planning daily and outage maintenance work orders. This role’s primary objective is to improve equipment reliability in a safe and cost efficient manner. Planning includes procuring materials and equipment and developing the scope of work for the work orders utilizing CMMS. The planner role is also responsible for mechanical contractors related to maintenance activities. The planner needs to have good verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with mechanics, maintenance, engineers, operations, contractors, and vendors.
How you will impact Ingevity
Support the plant’s positive safety culture through enforcement of safe work practices, employee engagement, participating on safety and incident investigation teams.
Plan daily and outage mechanical work orders by developing job scope, procuring materials and equipment, developing work packages and updating maintenance plans in the CMMS.
Secure and manage outside resources as needed for mechanical related jobs, projects and support for I&E jobs.
Support reliability to reduce break-ins and equipment downtime through the use of Pdm, PM, RCFA, training and continuous improvement efforts.
Support production, environmental and process safety management through planning and executing PSM work orders.
Periodically on call on a rotational basis.
Support project engineering for mechanical related jobs including planning and executing. Make recommendations and provide economic justifications for capital expenditures in support of the plant’s productivity, safety, environmental and cost reduction objectives.
Maintain housekeeping of maintenance parts storage and continuous improvement through 5S projects.
Backfill mechanical supervisor of the hourly mechanical maintenance employees including responsibility for safety, daily work scheduling, job execution, troubleshooting, and employee performance.
What you need to succeed
BS Mechanical Engineering degree and 3 years of industrial experience or 5 years of industrial experience with supervision experience.
Knowledge of mechanical theories and principles.
Knowledge of ASME and RAGAGEP.
Experience with pipe and welding specifications, rotating equipment, blue prints and drawings.
Excellent technical, engineering, writing, time management, problem solving and communication skills. Lead mechanical team meetings and training.
Must be proficient with SAP and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) concepts.
Must be proficient with Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Must foster a positive team environment with engineers, management, union and non-union craftspeople, and suppliers and contractors.
Prior experience creating and updating BOMs and PMs preferred.
Prior outage experience and vendor management preferred.
On call support (6 weeks/year) required.
