We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist in preparing accurate and timely cost estimates for a variety of underground utility projects, including the installation of water, sewer, and storm drain systems. This role is crucial to our pre‑construction efforts, helping us secure new projects while maintaining our reputation for efficiency and safety.
Location SUFFOLK, Virginia

Salary $70,000 - 85,000 per year
Work Hours 8am to 4pm
Education No Degree Required
Responsibilities
Assist senior estimators in reviewing project plans, specifications, and other documents to understand the scope of work
Perform quantity take‑offs for materials, labor, and equipment required for underground utility projects
Gather and analyze proposals and quotes from subcontractors and suppliers
Help prepare and compile detailed bids and cost proposals
Maintain and update a database of project costs, materials, and labor rates
Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and clients to clarify project requirements
Assist in post‑bid reviews to identify areas for improvement
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience preferred
3-5 Years experience with estimating for underground utilities
Basic understanding of construction principles and practices, particularly in civil or utility construction
Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid, B2W Estimate) is a plus
Analytical and mathematical skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
