Overview
Pennoni is hiring! This Water Resources Engineer will support transportation projects by performing a wide range of water resources related tasks. Tasks may include hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, stormwater, drainage and erosion and sediment control design, flood studies, bridge hydraulics and scour analysis, and plan and report preparation. This position offers the opportunity to work in Pennoni’s Newark, DE office within a successful transportation design hub.
Our Transportation Team serves Transportation Agencies and Municipalities in the Mid-Atlantic Region, as well as private land developers, corporations and beyond.
Responsibilities
Support H&H, ES&C, drainage and SWM tasks associated with bridge replacement and highway improvement projects for multiple clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, with a focus in Delaware and surrounding states.
Interact with clients regarding technical challenges with opportunities to perform project management if desired.
Develop plans, technical reports and specifications.
Contribute to diversified projects and assignments with different clients.
Required Attributes
PE license
Education: BSCE
Experience: 5-12 years
Experience including: hydrologic/hydraulic (H&H) modeling of natural systems and stormwater collection systems, floodplain management and modeling, stream restoration design, culvert and bridge hydraulics, scour analysis, erosion and sediment control design, drainage design, stormwater management design, plan review and plan and report preparation
Essential Software Tools: MicroStation v8i, ArcGIS, HY-8, HEC-RAS, Storm and SewerCAD, WinTR-55, WinTR-20, HydroCAD, SMS/SRH2D
Produces high quality technical writing for reports, specifications, studies, and other engineering documents
Plan production via MicroStation with design experience strongly preferred
Understanding of state DOT design criteria with prior project experience with DelDOT, MDSHA, VDOT, DCDOT, and/or PennDOT projects
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Computer Skills
MicroStation ORD, ArcGIS, HY-8, HEC-RAS, Storm and SewerCAD, WinTR-55, WinTR-20, HydroCAD, SMS/SRH2D
Preferred Attributes
Master’s degree preferred
Ability to lead project tasks and mentor entry-level engineers
Comfort interacting with clients regarding technical challenges with opportunities to perform project management
Motivated to work on multiple concurrent assignments within a team
Participation in engineering leadership roles in professional societies is preferred
