This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Moon landers and related products. We are building sustainable infrastructure for transporting crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.
As part of the Core Avionics organization, you will contribute to the successful development of avionics components for Lunar Vehicles. Work with engineers to define, test, and certify avionics hardware. Responsibilities span the product life cycle from conception to sustainment with partners across multiple technical functions. This role will directly impact the history of space exploration to enable affordable, safe, and repeatable spaceflight.

Blue Origin has multiple locations. Depending on the location chosen for this opportunity, you may be expected to travel up to 20% to support hardware deliveries, meetings, and reviews
Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
Developing, manufacturing, and testing Lunar Crew Systems avionics components for direct human interaction in space
Develop audio avionics systems for aerospace applications (example: flight deck audio for pilots or astronauts)
Developing product requirements
Defining interfaces
Supporting hardware build, integration, and test
Developing and implementing verification and qualification strategies
Conducting root cause analysis
Developing mitigation plans for hardware failures
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Computer, Aerospace, or related field
Complex hardware design experience through product design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR)
Audio avionics systems development experience for aerospace applications (flight deck audio)
Experience designing and developing electronic hardware for direct in-space end-user human interaction
Knowledge of radiation effects on electronics and application to space hardware designs
Direct experience in requirements development and verification
Experience managing within power budgets, latency and system redundancy requirements
Familiarity with integrated systems verification, including developing hardware verification test plans and verification test reports for certification/qualification
Preferred Qualifications
Master of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related fields
Typically 6+ years in design, development, and test of space avionics components and systems
Experience developing digital, analog, and/or mixed-signal circuit boards for avionics systems
Experience in circuit analysis and simulation (worst-case, signal integrity, P-Spice)
Experience in grounding and board layout principles, EMI/EMC
Experience with Jama or similar requirements management tools
Experience with MIL-STD/DO-160/SMC-S-016 environmental qualification testing
Familiarity with ARP 4754 and/or DO-254/DO-178 or similar standards
Familiarity with product development lifecycle phases
Familiarity with HW/Embedded SW development, integration, verification
Experience leading teams through project planning and execution
Design for X (DFx) for producibility (fabrication, manufacturing, assembly, integration, inspection, etc)
Compensation Compensation ranges vary by location. CO applicants is $116,323.00-$162,851.85; WA applicants is $126,898.00-$177,656.85
