$38.00/hr - $80.00/hr Position

Professional Civil Engineer – Special inspections Tectonic is a multi-disciplined engineering firm with over 30 years in business, offering professional, quality services. We provide special inspections and in-house laboratory material testing services. Responsibilities

Perform various special inspections of buildings as required by the NYC Construction Building Code and approved construction documents. Conduct subsurface investigations, including soil borings, test pits, and soil percolation testing. Read and interpret related documents and drawings, maintain inspection records, and prepare official field reports. Perform other relevant inspections and duties as required. Qualifications

Valid Professional Engineering license required; ability to acquire a NY PE license within a reasonable period. BS Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field. Inspection experience, preferably in NYC, strongly preferred. Ability to complete required OSHA training in a reasonable time. Ability to prepare and submit timely and accurate field inspection reports. Effective oral and written communication skills. Fundamentals of building inspection codes and requirements (including IBC, ASTM Standards, and TMS standards). Diversified knowledge of technology, materials, equipment, design concepts and construction techniques. Ability to solve complex issues with limited direction. Valid, clean driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites may be required. Physical requirements

Frequent stationary position; handle, inspect, and use documents, materials, and equipment relevant to the job. Communicate with colleagues, supervisors, and clients via company systems. Move around on job sites, ascend/descend as needed, and position oneself to access testing materials and equipment for prolonged periods. Lift up to 10 lbs; good visual skills and depth perception. Operate a motor vehicle or use public transportation; may remain stationary for extended periods.
