Position description

The Chemical and Materials Engineering department in the School of Engineering anticipates hiring full and/or part-time lecturer positions to teach the following courses for Academic Year 2025-2026: MSE 104: Engineering Living Systems; MSE 113: Materials Characterization; MSE 118: Introduction to Nanotechnology and Nanoscience; MSE 152: Materials Processing & Performance II: Materials Selection; MSE 162: 3D Printing Research and Development; MSE 194: Capstone Design; CHE 165: Plastic Pollution; Other courses as needed. See catalog for course descriptions: https://catalog.ucmerced.edu/content.php?catoid=21&navoid=1993 In addition to teaching the course(s), the instructor is responsible for creating a syllabus, holding weekly office hours (minimum 2 hours/week), and grading examinations and/or papers. The instructor may also be required to hold discussion sections or supervise a graduate student teaching assistant or reader. This is a limited-term appointment which falls under the purview of the agreement for the Lecturers Unit between University of California and the American Federation of Teachers. Terms and conditions of employment are subject to UC policy and appropriate collective bargaining agreement. Advanced degree in a relevant area or related field is required. Preferred qualifications:

Must be able to provide a record of excellence in teaching that demonstrates broad experience working with students of different abilities, ethnic backgrounds, and educational attainment.
