Position Summary
The Department of Biology at Metropolitan State University of Denver invites applications for part‑time affiliate faculty teaching positions. Screening of applicants will occur when course sections need to be filled. Responsibilities
Teach courses that may include one or more of the following: Human Biology for Non‑Majors (BIO 1000); General Biology Lecture and/or Laboratory (BIO 1080, 1090, 1081, 1091); Human Anatomy and Physiology (BIO 2310 and 2320); General Microbiology (BIO 2400); General Genetics (BIO 3600) and other upper‑division Biology courses as needed by the department. An affiliate faculty member’s duties may include but are not limited to: teaching assigned classes in person or online, preparing course materials and lesson plans, grading student work, providing timely feedback, addressing student questions consistent with university and department policies, and providing academic support to students as needed. Candidates must be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse student population. Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in biology or related field. Preferred Qualifications
Doctorate in biology or related field Relevant teaching experience Terms of Employment
Affiliate faculty are part‑time, at‑will employees hired to teach on a per credit hour basis for specific classes, usually on a semester‑by‑semester basis. Affiliate faculty are not eligible for benefit coverage under the University’s benefit program. All teaching assignments are dependent on budget and enrollment. Qualified candidates will be expected to teach in person/on campus upon hire. Salary for Announcement
