ABSMC-Summit Campus Position Overview:
Delivers pharmaceutical care through the provision of patient-centered clinical service, medication information, education, medication preparation and distribution that ensures safe, effective, and cost efficient medication therapy. Exercises sound judgment and developed clinical skills to provide input to and implement the patient's plan of care based on the diagnosis in a timely manner. Gains confidence and cooperation from the patient, their family/support group, and other healthcare providers through competent patient assessment, attentive monitoring and care, and effective communication. Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care. Responsibilities
PHARMACY SERVICES: Prepares medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders, detecting therapeutic incompatibilities; dispenses medications by compounding, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals; controls medications by monitoring drug therapies; advising interventions; ensures that routine and priority tasks are completed within established departmental time frames; mentors and fosters a constructive environment for students, interns, and Pharmacy Technicians.
Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians\' workflow; verifying their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals; verifying order entries, charges, and inspections; provides pharmacological information by answering questions and requests of health care professionals, counseling patients on drug therapies.
CLERICAL: May perform clerical tasks such as retrieving, entering and revising patient electronic health records; prepares and completes accurate documentation related to patient in medical and departmental records as required.
SAFETY: Participates in quality improvement processes, including updating and revision of safety and procedure manuals and interdisciplinary projects; maintains a clean, neat, and safe working environment by complying with policies, procedures, and regulations; protects patients and technicians by adhering to infection-control protocols.
COMPLIANCE: Maintains strictest confidence of all patients PHI and protects PHI from disclosure; prepares, administers, and documents medications and treatments in accordance with state and federal regulations; complies with drug laws and regulatory requirements; retains certification and completes mandated continuing education; develops hospital staff\'s pharmacological knowledge by participating in clinical programs and training.
Education
PHARMD - Graduate of an accredited pharmacy school
Certification & Licensure
PHARMR - Current registration or Registered Pharmacist within 120 days
ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (for those who will be responding to codes)
Experience
1 year of recent relevantexperience.
Skills and Knowledge
Knowledge of medical terminology, generic and trade pharmaceutical names, pharmaceutical calculations, and laws and regulations.
Knowledge of different Pharmacy practice settings, including narcotic delivery and procedures.
Ability to identify and employ pharmaceutical and medical terms, abbreviations, and symbols used in prescribing, dispensing, and record keeping.
Working knowledge of NABP, TJC, Title XXII, DHS, DEA, FDA, USP and related accreditation standards.
Written and verbal communication skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences.
Strong time management and organizational skills; ability to prioritize tasks and work within procedures and scientific methods.
General knowledge of computer applications, EHR systems (including EPIC), and related technology.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team; handle multiple tasks with interruptions.
Ability to identify, evaluate, and resolve standard problems using established solutions.
Ensure the privacy of each patient\'s PHI.

Pay Range is $93.66 to $107.70 / hour. The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
