Role scope: Pharmacists perform day-to-day drug distribution, computer drug and IV order processing, provide drug information and consultation to professional staff and patients, maintain patient profiles, respond to cardio-pulmonary emergencies, monitor therapy, and compound medications. The Staff Pharmacist I directs technicians and performs inventory control. This position provides float coverage for all shifts in the assigned pharmacy and may precept residents, students, technicians or interns as needed. The role requires rotation through the on-call schedule in the area of responsibility and is designated as a Direct Care Provider under Pharmacy Policy. Responsibilities
Perform daily drug distribution, IV order processing, and drug therapy monitoring. Provide drug information and clinical consultation to staff and patients; maintain patient profiles. Assist in cardiopulmonary emergencies and participate in drug compounding as needed. Direct pharmacy technicians and manage inventory and supply control. Provide float coverage across shifts; precept pharmacy residents, students, technicians, or interns as assigned. Participate in on-call schedule and contribute to area coverage as required. Required Qualifications
One year of experience as a licensed pharmacist or completion of PGY1 by time of hire. Current knowledge of drug references, Joint Commission requirements, and other regulatory standards. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited school; CA Board of Pharmacy Registered Pharmacist licensure in good standing. Current BLS or ACLS upon hire. Ability to work independently and in compliance with licensure requirements; maintain an appropriate work pace. Ability to extract pertinent information from patients or sources and apply it to the medical management plan. Preferred Qualifications
Completion of a PGY-2, Board Certification, or Advanced Practice Licensure. Conditions of Employment
