Overview

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) provides care under the direction of the Registered Nurse and uses the Nursing Process to deliver therapeutic care to a designated patient population. This role supports day-to-day staff, logistical and administrative operations in the CVTI Clinic, including scheduling, phone screening and referrals, patient communication, and clerical support, while assisting with clinical operations as required and permitted. Responsibilities

Use and practice basic assessment; participate in planning; execute interventions in accordance with the plan of care or treatment plan; contribute to evaluation of individualized interventions related to the care plan or treatment plan. Provide direct patient care. Administer medications. Demonstrate professional communication skills for patient care, education, and multidisciplinary team collaboration. Schedule and receive patients. Prepare and maintain medical records. Perform basic secretarial and medical transcription duties. Enter charges into the system accurately and in a timely fashion. Handle telephone calls and write correspondences. Serve as a liaison between physicians and other individuals. Take patient histories and vital signs. Facilitate effective and efficient patient flow. Perform first aid and CPR if needed. Assist physicians with exams and treatments as permitted by license. Organize pharmacy refill requests for physician approval. Work independently and in a team setting to accomplish duties promptly. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited Vocational Nursing Program (specialized/technical training). Ability to effectively work with physicians, staff, and patients. Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word and Internet usage. Demonstrate excellent customer service behavior. Strong interpersonal skills to handle sensitive situations and confidential information. Ability to make decisions effectively with appropriate stakeholder input. Preferred Qualifications

Two years of experience in an acute care or ambulatory care setting (preferred). LVN - Intravenous Therapy Certification (CA DCA) (preferred). Required Licenses/Certifications

Licensed Vocational Nurse (CA DCA) with a valid California Vocational Nursing license. Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certificate from American Heart Association. Fire Life Safety Training (LA City); if no card on hire, must obtain within 30 days of hire and maintain by renewal before expiration date (required within LA City only). The hourly rate range for this position is $29.00 - $45.20.
