Overview
Inpatient Spine / Joint: Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant role at University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS). Responsibilities
Interview patients for health history and perform physical examinations.
Order and evaluate appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests.
Document H&P, progress notes, admission notes and discharge summaries.
Coordinate and execute recommended pre- and post-operative care.
Participate in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement meetings.
Qualifications
Master of Science Degree with completion of an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
Registered and currently licensed with the Maryland Board of Examiners of Nurses; Certified as a Nurse Practitioner in Maryland; DEA and CDS eligible.
CPR required; ACLS/BCLS as required for inpatient work.
Professional involvement in organizations, teaching, research, publication, and/or certification in area of specialty preferred.
Ability to provide care appropriate to the patient population and demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles across the life span.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills.
Maintains updated hospital safety training and immunizations as recommended.
Working Conditions
Weekend, shift work, holiday, on-call and overtime may be required.
Potential exposure to patients with infectious diseases; use of Universal Precautions required.
Patient Safety
Ensure patient safety in job functions and participate in safety initiatives.
Take action to correct observed risks, report adverse events, and communicate effectively with team members.
