Geologist

at

Coterra , you will be responsible for generating ideas to grow the region through technical analyses. You will be actively involved with the planning and implementation of our horizontal exploration and development plans. You will work closely with other Geoscientists, Geosteering Specialists, Engineers, Drillers and field staff to ensure the safe and efficient execution of the well plans to optimize the success of Coterra’s drilling programs. This is an excellent opportunity to grow with a leading exploration and production company. This position is located onsite in our Midland, Texas office. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Perform regional geological risk and resource analyses across a variety of play types Integrate geologic, geophysical, petrophysical, and production data to identify opportunities Map and communicate resource potential through appropriate geologic products Work closely with reservoir engineers to assess economics of prospects Help to plan wells and guide geosteering staff on proper well placement Works well in a team environment but can also work independently with minimal supervision SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, Power Point Experience in unconventional resource plays, with Delaware Basin experience preferred Proficiency in Mapping Software packages, such as Petra, Geographix, and/or SMT Kingdom Proficient with well logs and petrophysics Experienced in creating standard geological work products Must be a team player EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Minimum: Master’s degree with a 4 Year / Bachelors Degree Position requires 4 year degree in Geology or Geophysics YEARS OF EXPERIENCE Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Geologist required Minimum of three (3) years of experience in upstream Oil and Gas required WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS Work is typically performed indoors in an office environment. Incumbents must be able to perform work which includes typing, sitting, and standing. In the event that incumbent visits operations worksite, personal protection equipment, including head protection, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety shoes, and flame-resistant clothing is required. Safety rules including OSHA and DOT requirements are strictly enforced. Employees must be willing to travel and work extended hours on short notice. TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS 10% - 15% Travel will be required for mandatory meetings, training and visits to field locations.
