Jr. Network Administrator (Cisco)
We are seeking a Jr. Network Administrator with hands‑on Cisco networking experience to support our network infrastructure across Springfield, MA and remote sites.

Key Skills

Wireless networking (Cisco or Aruba preferred; other brands can be trained)
Strong understanding of LAN/WAN
Experience configuring switches, access control, and performing hands‑on network setup
Nice to Have
Experience with firewalls (any brand)

Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
Manage service tickets (~5 per day): folder creation, permissions, troubleshooting.
Perform data center work: equipment decommissioning, cleanup, cabling, labeling; run copper jumpers under raised floors.
Support ~30 racks (networking and servers) and 200 switches across TN, ME, and MA.
Conduct wireless surveys and assist in network expansion projects (new APs, cabling, configuration).
Work on IDFs (~20 locations) connected via fiber to the main data center.
Follow direction and execute hands‑on technical work with precision.
Core Technical Responsibilities
Support and maintain Cisco Nexus, Cisco Catalyst, Cisco UCS, Citrix, Office 365, IBM servers, and storage.
Collaborate with IT teams and consultants on network design and implementation.
Evaluate new technologies for compatibility and scalability.
Deploy and maintain LANs, WANs, wireless, and VoIP systems.
Assist with security systems: firewalls, VPNs, IDS, anti‑malware.
Conduct testing in lab environments prior to production changes.
Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues; respond to outages per business continuity procedures.
Perform preventive maintenance and advanced diagnostics on network hardware.
Contribute to disaster recovery planning and documentation.
Participate in on‑call rotation for 24/7 system support.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field preferred, or equivalent technical experience.
2‑3 years of hands‑on networking experience.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Physical Requirements
Occasional bending, kneeling, squatting, and overhead reaching.
Able to lift up to 30 lbs occasionally (5‑20 lbs frequently).
