Overview STATE OFFICE COMPLEX POLICE OFFICER II (Campus Patrol Officer II) – State of New Hampshire, Department of Safety, Division of State Police – State Office Complex Police Force.

Location: 36 Clinton Street, Concord, NH 03301. This position offers a Trainee Option with a starting pay rate of $24.96 hourly. Base pay range for this role is $25.96/hr - $34.39/hr. Hourly shift differential: Second Shift $1.20, Third Shift $1.50, Rotating Shift $1.20. Test date: Saturday, October 25, 2025. This is a full-time vacancy for Campus Patrol Officer II (SOC TITLE 33-3050 POLICE OFFICERS-P3).

The State of New Hampshire, Department of Safety, Division of State Police – State Office Complex Police Force provides police coverage to the New Hampshire Hospital and the Governor Hugh J. Gallen State Office Park South through enforcement of laws and policies, and by providing services to patients/residents, employees, and citizens.

Responsibilities

Conduct patrols and inspections on foot and in marked police vehicles to ensure the security and protection of multiple local, state, and federal agencies located on the campus, with emphasis on New Hampshire Hospital and mental health issues.

Appear in court as a witness in traffic violations, criminal cases or other hearings; prepare cases for prosecution; serve warrants, DVOs, and juvenile petitions as applicable.

Monitor movements and behavior of potentially dangerous patients/residents; respond to and control high-risk situations involving psychiatric emergencies and potential injury to self or others.

Intervene in disputes to restore peace and safety; confront hostile persons, mediate disputes, and advise on rights of process.

Assist with admission of patients, locate and return AWOL patients, transport patients to/from other institutions and court (in-state or out-of-state).

Write investigative and other reports, including citations, affidavits, complaints and warrants; gather information in criminal investigations by interviewing victims, witnesses and suspects.

Enforce parking and traffic regulations; initiate traffic stops; issue warnings and tickets; make in-custody arrests; investigate traffic crashes.

Arrest suspects, if necessary, using restraints; use approved methods and force only as required.

Search people, vehicles, buildings, and outdoor areas to collect evidence; detain suspicious persons or vehicles.

Operate firearms safely under stressful conditions in accordance with certification standards.

Qualifications

Education:

Associates degree or 60 credit hours from an accredited institution, or High school diploma or GED with additional qualifications as listed below.

Experience:

No experience required if education meets criteria; otherwise two years of experience as a certified police officer, security officer, correctional officer, active military, or mental health worker providing direct care to patients (or a combination).

License/Certification:

Valid driver’s license and completion of Safe Driver Course within six months of employment.

OR

Education: High school diploma or GED; Experience: Two years in the roles listed above.

Trainee Option:

Candidates with an equivalent combination of 1+ years of relevant education and experience after high school may be hired in trainee status for this position.

Other requirements

Must be at least 21 years of age on date of appointment.

Must pass a thorough character investigation including reference, criminal record, and motor vehicle record checks.

Must meet RSA 188-F:27 requirements, including drug screening, physical fitness testing and retests, psychological screening, and medical examination according to PSTC standards; successful completion of required tests prior to assuming duties and throughout employment.

After-hire: within six months complete Safe Driver Course; complete Full-Time Police Academy; complete Mental Health Worker Training Program within four weeks of employment.
